VIM Magazine: Einstein’s Equation of Love, Fall 2023

VIM is a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle magazine club that I was apart of for all four years of college. It is one of the largest organizations on campus that has over 250+ members, with over 1,500 magazines being distributed this semester. I had the opportunity to work in 2 of the 19 teams that exist in VIM, the Lifestyle and Blog teams.

Each semester, certain teams submit “pitches” in to get picked for the magazine. Fall of my senior year was the first time I got a pitch picked! My pitch was titled Einstein’s Equation of Love, which was centered around the urban legend that Einstein wrote a letter to his daughter explaining how love can transcend the boundaries of space and time.

It started off with becoming the shoot director. I had a team of assistants, photographers, casting directors, copy editors, and creative teams that I directed to lead my vision towards the final product. I got to hand select my models, pick out the outfits, shoot location and time, and have hair and makeup and styling teams get my models ready. I learned how to manage and coordinate with a large group, and watch people complete my vision in a photoshoot.

Through VIM, I learned to plan events, coordinate with others, and write and direct my own featured article.

It seemed like a daunting task, but after several months of hard work, nothing compared to getting to see physically printed at our launch party.
